Kunst im ehemaligen Waschraum: Kollektive Malperformance von Armand de Bussy in Bremen

Am 6. September 2025 verwandelte sich ein Ort der einstigen Funktion und Abwertung in eine Bühne der künstlerischen Transformation:
„You Are the Performance - Das andere in dir“ – eine kollektive Malperformance des in Bremen lebenden Künstlers Armand de Bussy – fand im Rahmen der Ausstellungsserie „You Are the Performance “ im Güterbahnhof Bremen statt.

Im Mittelpunkt steht ein Raum mit Geschichte: ein ehemaliger Waschraum, der dem Künstler zugewiesen wurde. Was als marginalisierter Ort beginnt, erfährt eine tiefgreifende Umdeutung. De Bussy öffnet ihn nicht zur Reinigung, sondern für Spuren – für Ausdruck, Wandlung und kollektive Teilhabe.

Zentraler Bestandteil der Performance ist ein großformatiges, vorab gestaltetes Werk – ein offener, fragmentierter Bildraum, der durch die Besucher:innen weitergeführt werden darf. Nicht dekorativ, sondern transformativ.
Die poetische Einladung an alle Beteiligten lautet:
„Du bist nicht der Künstler:in. Du bist das Werkzeug.“

Die Malaktion ist eingebettet in ein umfassenderes Ausstellungskonzept, das sich mit Fragen von Identität, Spiegelung und kollektiver Wahrnehmung auseinandersetzt. Die Performance wird filmisch begleitet und fließt in das visuelle Archiv „Mirror Cuts“ ein.

On September 6, 2025, a place once defined by function and neglect was transformed into a stage of artistic metamorphosis:
"You Are the Performance – The Other Within You" – a collective painting performance by Bremen-based artist Armand de Bussy – took place as part of the exhibition series “You Are the Performance” at Güterbahnhof Bremen.

At the center stands a space with history: a former washroom, assigned to the artist. What begins as a marginalized place undergoes a profound redefinition. De Bussy opens it not for cleansing, but for traces – for expression, transformation, and collective participation.

A key element of the performance is a large-scale, pre-designed work – an open, fragmented pictorial space that visitors are invited to continue. Not decorative, but transformative.
The poetic invitation to all participants reads:
"You are not the artist. You are the tool."
The painting action is embedded in a broader exhibition concept that explores questions of identity, reflection, and collective perception. The performance is accompanied by film documentation and becomes part of the visual archive “Mirror Cuts.”

"You Are the Performance – L’altro in te" – una performance pittorica collettiva dell’artista residente a Brema Armand de Bussy – si è svolta nell’ambito della serie espositiva “You Are the Performance” al Güterbahnhof di Brema.

Al centro si trova uno spazio con storia: un ex lavatoio, assegnato all’artista. Ciò che inizia come un luogo marginalizzato subisce una profonda ridefinizione. De Bussy non lo apre per la pulizia, ma per le tracce – per l’espressione, la trasformazione e la partecipazione collettiva.
Elemento centrale della performance è un’opera di grande formato, predisposta in anticipo – uno spazio pittorico aperto e frammentato che i visitatori possono proseguire. Non decorativo, ma trasformativo.
L’invito poetico a tutti i partecipanti recita:
"Non sei l’artista. Sei lo strumento."

L’azione pittorica è inserita in un concetto espositivo più ampio che affronta temi di identità, riflesso e percezione collettiva. La performance è documentata cinematograficamente ed entra a far parte dell’archivio visivo “Mirror Cuts.”

"You Are the Performance – Lo otro en ti" – una performance pictórica colectiva del artista residente en Bremen Armand de Bussy – tuvo lugar en el marco de la serie de exposiciones “You Are the Performance” en el Güterbahnhof de Bremen.

En el centro se encuentra un espacio con historia: un antiguo lavadero, asignado al artista. Lo que comienza como un lugar marginalizado experimenta una profunda resignificación. De Bussy no lo abre para la limpieza, sino para las huellas – para la expresión, la transformación y la participación colectiva.
Elemento central de la performance es una obra de gran formato, concebida previamente – un espacio pictórico abierto y fragmentado que los visitantes pueden continuar. No decorativo, sino transformador.

"You Are the Performance – L’autre en toi" – une performance picturale collective de l’artiste installé à Brême Armand de Bussy – a eu lieu dans le cadre de la série d’expositions “You Are the Performance” au Güterbahnhof de Brême.
Au centre se trouve un espace chargé d’histoire : un ancien lavoir, attribué à l’artiste. Ce qui commence comme un lieu marginalisé subit une profonde relecture. De Bussy ne l’ouvre pas pour le nettoyage, mais pour les traces – pour l’expression, la transformation et la participation collective.

"Our precious waste" 2. und 3. Performance in Rialto, Venedig 2019

Mein Anliegen ist es, die enorme Verschwendung von Ressourcen, in diesem Falle am Beispiel von Fisch und  Meeresfrüchten, deutlich zu machen. Durchaus essbare frische Reste von Edelfischen und Meeresfrüchten werden im Müll entsorgt, obwohl sie Menschen ernähren könnten. Außerdem ändert sich das Verhalten der Seemöven und anderer Vögel in der Stadt, die nicht mehr selbst auf Fischfang gehen, sondern mit zunehmender Aggressivität um die Reste kämpfen. Auf mehreren politischen Ebenen ist die ökologische Schädigung sichtbar, z. B. durch den Einsatz einer Plastikplane und die Gesichtslosigkeit der agierenden Menschen (Anonymous-Maske).
